The Poetics of Space is one of the most inspirational and special books of all time. The thing that makes this book so special is French Philosopher Bachelard’s unique perspective on the emotional and poetic dimensions of our relationship with space and the human experience. Since human experience is a widely studied concept by many fields, this book is amongst the most significant in disciplines from architecture to cultural studies.

In “The Poetics of Space,” Bachelard explores the link between physical space and its psychological dimension, the intimate relationship between a person and their home.

Bachelard uses illustrations of everyday areas and objects like attic, cellar, drawers, and wardrobes and he reveals the poetry in everyday spaces, also uncovering the symbolic meanings and cultural associations that shape our experiences.
